Anyway. That's all to set the stage for you, dear reader, so that you might appropriately recognize what a Herculean feat I have achieved tonight.
I was supposed to go to the grocery after work. It was hot out though and I was in work clothes, so I came home to "change" and next thing I knew it was 9pm. Normally this would mean I don't get groceries.
Not so tonight batman!!
I didn't just grocery shop. I procured every low calorie, high protein item in the store. And no the Little Debbie's are not for me!! :) It's for a contest at work - I digress. This really isn't THAT much, is it??
Umm....
Yeah. I think Jen's exact words were "Holy shit."
Good news is, I did a lot of walking...
And we got some great deals on bulk meat. I want to show you what I got so you know that eating healthIER doesn't mean sacrificing flavor and favorites. I always forget how bad baked fries AREN'T.
(Lots of veggies and the bagelfuls are a legal treat!)
Coffee is yummy to me, but I prefer it cold or blended. Going to try a Pinterest recipe with silk, Splenda, vanilla extract, and brown sugar for a homemade frappe...we'll see later!
See - Chips AND biscuits. It's still Heidi's house.
You've got to try these salads at Kroger! They are my favorite - affordable, guilt free, and yummy.
Okay, after coupons and my Kroger card I saved about $60, bringing me to $250 for approx. 3 weeks worth of groceries. The thing is, I usually spend at least $200 and don't have anything to get me through breakfast or lunch - just dinner and snack. And I bought a lot of juice boxes for the food drive at church and Little Debbie snacks for work. All in all I was pleased!
I got these PB pretzels to show that even non-diet food can be a great option! Each of these portions comes out to 150 or 140 calories and will be a great 10am snack. I used a dry erase marker to write the calories on the bags so I would remember for My Fitness Pal when it came time to log my intake.
They all fit in my empty snack jar like I planned it!!
Okay that was the easy one. Now to wash and cut veggies....
Not pictured for some crazy reason are the carrot chips, sliced zucchini, and quartered oranges.
And to shoe off, I also used this time to drink the rest of the water I hadn't gotten around to drinking all day! Yes I know it's better to drink it earlier in the day but you're looking at a blog written by someone who wants to get healthy but has seriously considered installing a diet coke machine in her kitchen.
Baby steps!
Here's the fridge - stuffed to the gills! I'm so proud of myself. Now let's pray I don't let this stuff spoil.Ugh it's 2am - I'm putting myself to sleep!
