Heidi, I am so thankful you posted this. I know that you are a smart lady, there are so many factors and steps that go in someone's fitness journey. You are no different. The theme to this year's Beachbody Coach Summit was COMMIT. How appropriate is that for you, huh? You've made the decision to go on this journey, now you have to commit to it. You've gotta get angry at your weight, get fired up about getting rid of it.
I've got some mandates for you from me.
1.) STOP eating out at restaurants so much. Why are you doing that? Cheesecake Factory, pizza, ihop.... you KNOW I had to say something about that.
2.) Stop talking about gastric. You're already setting yourself up for failure if deep down in your heart that is all you want to do.
3.) Grab that Louise Hay book and start making some affirmations for yourself!!
4.) Record everything, I mean everything you put in your mouth!!!!
5.) Text or call me if you are feeling weak.
6.) Develop your support system. Who is going to be there for you and who is going to be a positive influence on you? Write their names down in your journal.
7.) Keep being honest on your blog. Keep writing and making videos.
Heidi, I believe in you. I don't want you to keep focusing on those statistics, because they don't have to relate to you. Stats can change. Those stats were not in existence in the past and they'll be different, one way or another, in the future. Just focus on you. I only mentioned gastric in the er last night because seeing you like that makes me feel desperate. i mean, absolutely desperate. i have talked to you at length about gastric in the past, and you know how i really feel about it.. i don't think it's an answer. i don't think it would supply the lifestyle change needed to maintain the weight. any surgery is a risk. that being said, there is no reason you can't be losing 2 pounds a week right now, and i speak from experience being obese. it WILL come off. it's a formula, just like chalene says. just get started. you want results, its a formula. it's science. you eat right, you sleep right, you work right, and find things to be joyful about each day so you feel happy as you work. remember to give praise to God in all you do- i find it helps me push through when i feel like crap and have no desire to do what i'm supposed to do. i know i don't have the results that others have, but i still have lost a lot of weight and i'm still moving forward. you can do this. WE can do this. i don't want to lose you heidi. you can start seeing results dramatically... these first six months should be VERY rewarding for you, because you are so overweight (just as i am)... there is so much excess that WANTS to come off, in the beginning the pounds will just fall off once you get your momentum going. i was getting to 3 to 4 pounds weekly when I was really on it, and that was a completely realistic lifestyle for me. totally doable. i wasn't doing the extra things you have lined up to help you.
the blunt thing i have to say is that you have to put it all together and DO. you have the shoes. you have the shakes. you have the blog. you have the workout clothes. you and i are notorious for that. don't just buy the scrapbook supplies because we want to be the kind of people that do those crafty things. use them. remember that every single step you take in those shoes is a step further away from an early grave. remember this unborn child that can't wait to meet his/her crazy aunt. remember how much landon loves you. remember how much sebastian loves you. remember how much i love you and all of your friends and amanda. remember your future. remember walking the streets of europe and how exhilarating that felt to be really living. remember all the future trips with kate to boston and nyc and seattle and vegas etc that you two are going to take. we have so much life to live.
Oh Heidi...made me cry this morning and I want you to know I'm praying for you! I know it doesn't seem the same to you, but I've struggled with a roller coaster of dieting and food addiction for years and I know it can be so exhausting to feel that you are spinning your wheels on this. I have faith in you! Watch for something from me in interoffice mail soon. I'm going to send you something that's been helpful to me recently. Love ya! :)
